DESCRIPTION:On 5 August 2023\, at the Montgomery Riverfront dock in Montg
 omery\, Alabama\, a Black riverboat co-captain directing a pleasure boat 
 to clear the Harriott II's docking space was attacked by a group of white
  boaters. Bystanders — mostly Black families gathered for the evening — m
 oved in to defend him\, and the confrontation was recorded from several a
 ngles and carried worldwide within hours. Charges followed against severa
 l of the initial assailants. The site itself is layered: the same riverfr
 ont was a major port of the domestic slave trade\, where enslaved people 
 were unloaded and sold within walking distance of Court Square. Commemora
 tion on this date centers collective defense\, the weight of place\, and
